Chargers signed Virginia Tech OT Nick Becton.
Becton (6-foot-5 1/4, 323) took over the Hokies’ left tackle job as a senior and started 12 games in his lone season as a full-time player. His arms measured 35 1/2" at the Combine and he ran 5.20 with a 29.5-inch vertical. While Becton possesses functional athleticism and size to stay at left tackle, he’s going to have to get stronger. NFL.com’s Gil Brandt has referred to Becton as a “developmental type player.” The Chargers need to re-haul their line, so Becton should get a fair shake as a backup.
  • Lions released/waived OT Nick Becton, LB Thurston Armbrister, CB Adairius Barnes, DT Ego Ferguson, WR Dontez Ford, C Leo Koloamatangi, TE Khari Lee, DT Derrick Lott, DT Caushaud Lyons, S Rolan Milligan, OT Storm Norton, DE Pat O’Connor, TE Scott Orndoff, WR Michael Rector, WR Noel Thomas, CB Josh Thornton, TE Robert Tonyan and LB Antwione Williams
A journeyman, Becton hasn’t appeared in a regular season game since 2015.
  • Bears promoted OT Nick Becton from the practice squad.
He’ll provide offensive line depth after C Will Montgomery (broken leg) was sent to injured reserve.
  • Saints signed OT Nick Becton.
Becton was plucked off the Giants’ practice squad. His addition is a sign RT Zach Strief (back) is in danger of missing Week 10.
