Elana Meyers Taylor will miss the 2026-27 bobsled season due to post-concussive symptoms.
“Not the post I planned on writing this time of year but here we are,” was posted on her social media. “Since the Olympics, I’ve been suffering from reoccurring post concussive symptoms- which has made it impossible to prepare and train for the upcoming season. Therefore, I will not be competing for the 2026/27 season. If all goes well I hope to be back in a sled before the end of the Winter season, but time will tell. There will be time later to discuss details, but for now- I start intensive therapy today so if you see me around and I’m not my normal personable self- it’s definitely not you- rehab is very very demanding. I love everyone who has supported me all these years and always love to meet you and take pictures- just forgive me if I’m not my best self at the moment. I will be soon...recovery in progress.”
At the Milan Cortina Games, Meyers Taylor won the monobob to become, at age 41, the oldest individual event gold medalist in Winter Olympic history.
It was her sixth career medal, tying retired speed skater Bonnie Blair for the most Winter Olympic medals for an American woman.
The 2026-27 World Cup bobsled season runs from late November to early February, followed by the World Championships in late February in Lillehammer, Norway.
