X Games snowmobiler Caleb Moore remains in critical condition after crashing while performing a flip off a jump Thursday in Aspen. His family says they are not hopeful about the athlete’s chances.

“Caleb is not doing good at all,” his grandfather Charles Moore told The Denver Post. “The prognosis is not good at all. It’s almost certain he’s not going to make it.”

The 25-year-old from Texas went over his handlebars in the crash and landed face-first in the snow, with his snowmobile landing on top of him. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital, diagnosed with a heart contusion, and quickly underwent surgery. On Sunday, his family announced that he was also suffering from a “brain complication.”

Caleb’s younger brother, Colten, an X Games gold medalist last year, also sustained an injury on Sunday during the event in Aspen. He separated his pelvis after falling from his sled, but won’t require surgery.
