An Australian broadcaster has obtained footage of Oscar Pistorius reenacting the night he fatally shot girlfriend Reeva Steemkamp.

Pistorius shot four times through a locked bathroom door in his Pretoria home on Valentine’s Day 2013, hitting and killing Steenkamp inside. Pistorius, the first double amputee to run in the Olympics, said he thought Steenkamp was an intruder and acted in self-defense.

A day before the trial is to resume, Channel Seven in Australia showed video of Pistorius walking without his two prosthetic legs and miming holding a gun. The Guardian reports he can be heard saying “I’ll call the police, get out, get out!” and then screaming as he recreates realizing it was Steenkamp inside the bathroom.

In another sequence he struggles to drag a woman, believed to be played by his sister Aimee, out of the bathroom. Wearing his prosthetics, he also reenacts carrying the woman down the staircase of his home.

A lawyer for Pistorius, Brian Webber, released a statement saying the video was made last year “to visually map the events on the night of the accident” as the defense team prepared for trial.

The video has not been shown during the trial, which began in March and is expected to conclude within the next few weeks.

Webber stated the footage was obtained by Channel Seven illegally and violated a non-disclosure agreement with The Evidence Room, the American company that was hired to visually map the events that led to Steenkamp’s death.

Pistorius faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted of premeditated murder. If found not guilty of premeditated murder, Pistorius could be convicted of culpable homicide, South Africa’s version of manslaughter for negligent killing.
