Tickets punched: Your final list of countries qualified for FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil

2014 World Cup

Seven days ago, 21 teams had confirmed their spots in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but after a final week of qualifying that included 17 games across five continents, the field for next summer’s championship in Brazil is set. Uruguay’s Wednesday win over Jordan snatched the last spot, with Mexico having clinched their berth earlier in the day. Croatia, France, Greece, and Portugal will join Europe’s contingent as well as the Africa quintet that clinched their spots this week.

These 32 teams will now be slotted into eight, four-team groups for next summer’s tournament, with a draw in Brazil on Dec. 6 set to hand each team their assignment. As Steve Davis pointed out yesterday, one group will surely be labeled the Group of Death Need a New Euphemism, though the depth of this year’s field ensure they’ll be no easy rides come June 13.
