Stupendously bad timing of new Brek Shea commercial

I know this may seem like piling on – because Brek Shea is having an awful time of it right now, as we have discussed. Truly, I don’t mean it that way.

But if we’re being honest, this video (below) belongs in the all-time Hall of Fame of bad timing. Or, it would if they had such a thing:

It’s a new Brek Shea commercial for adidas.

The 30-second spot has an SNL-type sketch-ness about it. Because the commercial features FC Dallas’ winger practically foretelling the very muddy mire into which he has waded. He’s waist-deep in it, which creates irony of the highest order when Shea says in the spot:

“They say an encore can be heavy. They say it’s hard to follow a breakout year. All the hype, all the headlines, they can weigh you down. … They say I’m not ready for something that heavy can do. …”

Ahem.
