Can we puh-leeeze get Geoff Cameron on his way!

Cameron, Geoff

At this point, Geoff Cameron could have rowed over to England in a single-seater.

We’ve been trying to get the man signed and sealed to Stoke City for darn near a month now.

It looks like the Dynamo center back is finally, really on his way. What Dynamo general manager Chris Canetti told on Wednesday: “It’s our understanding through our communication with Stoke is that they’ve agreed to personal terms. The next step in the process is him applying for his work permit.”

As I’ve said before, the work permit issue simply isn’t the hurdle that it once was. Best I can ascertain, Bobby Convey was the last U.S. man denied a UK work permit, about 10 years ago.

The next extension of this story is what Houston will do with Cameron’s roster spot and his salary cap room. The rangy center back is guaranteed $255,000 this year, enough money to pay quality talent in MLS.

So, will there be a Ricardo Clark sighting around BBVA Compass Stadium any time soon?
