Cavan Sullivan makes history from distance as 17-year-old sets new USMNT standard (video)

Cavan Sullivan’s only been 17 for a couple of weeks, and his third cap with the United States men’s national team saw him become the youngest player to score in the shirt.

Sullivan’s 63rd minute goal will only grow the hype train, as he was gifted the ball from 40 yards and sent the ball swirling over Mexico goalkeeper Raul Rangel.

Scoring your first USMNT goal comes at 17 years and five days. He’s 126 days younger than Mathis Albert, who kept the record for under a week.

Your first international goal making it Dos a Cero against Mexico somehow makes a career-defining moment feel even better.

That’s a soon-to-be Manchester City teenager breaking the record of a Borussia Dortmund teenager. It’s some time to be a USMNT fan.
