Chris Rolfe nears return for Chicago Fire

Chris Rolfe

The Chicago Fire’s efforts to get real traction in the 2012 season keeps slipping; Frank Klopas’ team has yet to post back-to-back wins.

Can Chris Rolfe’s return be the answer for a team that looks pretty good in spurts, but fairly ordinary in others?

Rolfe was a quality MLS man from 2005-2009, before he left to play in Denmark. He signed up for a second stint at Toyota Park in April, but injury has prevented Rolfe’s debut.

A sprained ankle suffered on his second Fire practice upon re-signing has been painfully slow to heal. But Rolfe was back at practice this week and will apparently be available for selection tonight during the very, very limited MLS schedule.

New England-Chicago from Gillette Field is the only MLS match Saturday; the league is taking a two-week break from the full schedule to accommodate international play.
