DC destruction: Highlights, interviews from United’s big win

FC Dallas v DC United

Maicon Santos scored twice, while the Man of the Match performance from United rookie Nick DeLeon included a goal and an assist.

As you watch the highlights, consider how the emergence of D.C. United’s early Rookie of the Year will create fascinating competition for spots along the flanks at RFK. Because Chris Pontius, though still recovering from serious injury, was always thought to be Ben Olsen’s top choice at left midfielder. Across the way, Danny Cruz enjoyed an industrious night on the right, a real bonus for D.C. United considering that’s usually Andy Najar’s spot. (Najar is away with Honduras’ under-23 side for Olympic qualifying.)

Here are the highlight’s of D.C. United’s four-goal breakout.

And then a few words from United coach Ben Olsen, who can breath a little bit this week following his team’s first win of 2012.

“We’re still tinkering,” Olsen said. “Each week, we’re getting better.”
