Robbie Keane probably can’t wait to wash away the sour taste of Ireland’s meek European Championship performance.

It won’t happen tonight as his club, the L.A. Galaxy, travels to Utah to meet Real Salt Lake, says coach Bruce Arena. But the longtime Irish standout striker could be back on the field for Los Angeles as early as Saturday, when L.A. hosts Vancouver.

Soccer By Ives reports today that Keane is expected to return to Los Angeles later this week. Chances of an appearance from Keane?

“Yes, there’s a chance,” Arena said, “We’ll just see how he feels.”

Don’t forget about Keane’s quick-turn last fall following another Euro adventure. He played across the Atlantic on a Tuesday (going 68 minutes while helping Ireland qualify for Euro 2012 with a win over Estonia) and then booked it quickly back to Southern California. Keane started and assisted on Landon Donovan’s game-winner that night against Houston, so clearly jet lag is a lesser concern for the man.
