Highlights: You never know when “Mayhem” Lenhart will strike

San Jose Earthquakes v Philadelphia Union

CHESTER, PA - APRIL 28: Steven Lenhart #24 of the San Jose Earthquakes celebrates with teammate Joey Gjertsen #17 after Lenhart scored his second and game winning goal during the second half against the Philadelphia Union in a Major League Soccer game on April 28, 2012 at PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania. Steven Lenhart is the real-life version of that Mayhem character in the Allstate commercials.

He is collision waiting to happen, a striker for the San Jose Earthquakes who perennially pinballs around, causing havoc for himself, the opposition and for referees.

But the man is effective. Last night he got in on San Jose’s first goal and then scored the late, late game-winner. (Yes, San Jose with yet another late win. Amazing.)

Remember, Lenhart was only in the lineup because Alan Gordon is suspended.

Here are highlights of last night’s win at Buck Shaw, which kept the Earthquakes in top spot in the West.
