Is Leicester City bound for another Premier League run?
Leicester City was more or less a top-flight mainstay in the Premier League’s early days back in the 1990s. (There was always a top league in England, of course, but it was not known as the Premier League until 1992.)
But Leicester has not sniffed Premier League air since 1992, even dipping for one season into England’s third tier.
But good things are happening at the King Power Stadium, where the Foxes are trying to pull away from the pack in England’s Championship, the second tier.
Leicester is far away the best of the bunch according to Bolton boss Dougie Freedman, who has spent some time in the Premier League as a player. Here’s what Freedman said after Leicester put five past his team Sunday to remain atop the table (and in position for automatic promotion into the Premier League, although there is lots of soccer to be played):
