U.S. national team manager Jurgen Klinsmann has already talked about the Olympic qualifying effort, offering perspective and thoughts on where things went sideways.

But this is an age of grand transparency for U.S. Soccer, mostly because Klinsmann is a grandly transparent kind of guy.

So he has a conference call set for today, where the U.S. coach will answer media questions on any and all relevant topics.

U.S. Soccer officials say they have long considered a series of these media opportunities. With Klinsmann it’s easy because he’s something of a rare-feathered bird in terms of media meet-ups: he actually enjoys the interaction.

My guess: precious few media types will get a chance to toss a question Klinsmann’s way. The man is a wind-up toy; he gets started, gets excited about what he’s saying and then just goes and goes. (It’s like a healthy, fiber-filled meal and pie for me and my kind.)

The conference call is set for 2 p.m. ET. I’ll report back with anything important that develops out of the call.
