Back with a bang from his 10 match ban, Liverpool striker Luis Suarez set fire to the Stadium of Light with his two goal effort on Sunday.
Slotted in just behind Daniel Sturridge, Suarez looked as if he hadn’t skipped a bit from last spring. The Uruguayan was all over the field, providing support to his teammates and playmaking from an advanced position.
Beyond the two goals he scored, perhaps the most uplifting aspect of Suarez’ day was the partnership he formed with Sturridge. For the unusually far distance they play from each other the Liverpool forwards appear cosmically aligned, finding each other with a wide array of passes and Sturridge claiming assists on both of Suarez’ strikes.
Suarez final stats on the day - seven shots (two on target), 43 passes (81.4% completion rate), four crosses and two goals on a team high 72 touches.
