Scott Sealy came very close to changing last night’s game in Dallas, aiming his header toward the top corner at the near post.
But that’s when rookie ‘keeper Bryan Meredith got all super-bad on him, acrobatically swatting Sealy’s shot out of there.
It really was quite something; several Sounders talked about it in the locker room afterward, how that moment that changed the game. Dallas had been in control for much of the first half. So manager Sigi Schmid tweaked things tactically, asking center midfielders Andy Rose and Brad Evans to not play so deep as a pair. And the coach introduced Fredy Montero, whose two goals claimed the night and all three points.
But it might have been very different but for Meredith’s save just before the break, a save that made SportsCenter’s Top Plays. Here it is:
