Michael Carrick reaction — Manchester United manager responds to comeback win, Bruno Fernandes hat trick
Feels better this week? “Results are nice, to win like that. I said it after the game last week. We were bitterly disappointed and it hurt all week but we managed it well — thought about it, dealt with it, didn’t make too much of it in the end. In a challenging week, I was really pleased with them this week after going down 1-0. We’ve had our setbacks this week. We’ll have setbacks, it’s how you deal with them. And then the quality comes and you have a good day.”
Went down 1-0: “The way we responded and dealt with it around the goal. We got back to it, took control, and second half was particularly good. Second half was delighted, a lot of positives.”
Handball call: “There are two sides to the coin. In terms of rules, it was played to the rules today. I understand the disappointment from them but it was one of those things. You’ve got to capitalize on it.”
On Bruno Fernandes’ performance: “He played well today. You could see the connection through the middle with Bruno, with Matheus and Kobbie and Youri was particularly good. The second half, with the combinations, understanding, and finding your form and finding your sharpness after a World Cup where some of them were disappointing and there’s a lot that goes in the pot, to come back. With the week’s Bruno had to finish like that makes it a nice one for him.”
