ProSoccerTalk’s daily soccer re-set

Cesc Fabregas

What we’re thinking, what we’re watching, what’s coming on the blog today and the RASNoD (Random American Soccer Name of the Day). Setting up your day in soccer …

Birthdays of note: We probably all know what Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fàbregas would like for his 25th birthday: another shot at getting into the Champions League final. Or perhaps another crack at the La Liga crown that got away. But heck, I’d like a magical mug that never runs out of cold beer, and that ain’t happening either. So happy birthday, Cesc. Also, former Major League Soccer MVP and Columbus Crew talisman Guillermo Barros Schelotto turns 39.

Ahead on the blog today*: Checking on injured U.S. striker Jozy Altidore (hint: that nasty knock around the head area that he took Wednesday may not be as bad as it looked). Also, looking ahead to the weekend biggies, like the FA Cup final and playoffs in Mexico. And there may just be some U.S. Soccer info to share (nothing too meaty, but something you’ll definitely need to know).

RASNoD (Random American Soccer Name of the Day): Carla Overbeck

Twitter dap: Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney (@WayneRooney) on Thursday’s honor: “Delighted to win best goal in prem league history. Thx to everyone who voted.”
