Mats Hummels scored the only goal of the second leg, heading home Julian Brandt’s brilliant corner kick in the 50th minute. Dortmund needed — and got — more than a little good fortune throughout the tie as PSG hit the woodwork six times in 180 minutes, including four times in the second half of a frantic second leg.

Warren Zaire-Emery put a rebound volley off the outside of the post from two yards out in the 47th minute, and PSG looked certain to finally break through and level the tie at any moment. Less than three minutes later, they go another goal down. PSG took the final 15 shots of the game, but got no closer as Kylian Mbappe, Vitinha and Nuno Mendes were all also denied by the goal frame.

Dortmund will face the winner of Wednesday’s semifinal between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich (the tie is level at 2-2) in the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium on June 1. The last time Dortmund were in the Champions League final was the last time it was played at Wembley. Their opponent? Bayern Munich.

PSG focus, team news

PSG will be missing center back Lucas Hernandez who went off with an injury in the first leg. Youngster Beraldo is set to start in his place. Mbappe, Dembele and Barcola are set to start in attack but we may see Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani early off the bench as PSG chase goals.

Borussia Dortmund focus, team news

Dortmund are likely to go with the same lineup as the first leg as they had great balance and the likes of Sancho, Brandt and Adeyimi were excellent in supporting Fullkrug in attack and doing their work defensively. Dortmund will be buoyed by the number of chances they created in the first leg but know they will have to do even more defending in the second leg if they’re going to get to Wembley.
