It’s official: Crystal Palace have confirmed Tony Pulis as their new manager.
They may be sitting dead last in the table, but Palace now have a reason to feel optimistic: it sure seems like Pulis, with his pragmatic approach to football, will be able to keep the side from slipping back into the Championship. Pulis spent seven seasons with Stoke City and, while his managerial style may have caused the Potters to become the butt of a great many jokes, he kept his club in safety. Under Pulis, Stoke made it to the FA Cup final in 2011, securing themselves a spot in the following season’s Europa League. Not bad credentials for Palace’s new man.
The Premier League’s bottom side have been under the care of temporary manager Keith Millen since October 23, when Ian Holloway left the club by mutual consent. The caretaker manager will remain in the dugout for Saturday’s match against Hull City, while new boss Pulis will watch from the stands at the KC Stadium. He’ll take charge for Palace’s match against Norwich on Saturday, November 30.
