Nobody does pessimism like the French.
Red Bulls striker Thierry Henry may be available tonight for the first time in almost a month, as his side hosts Chivas USA.
Or he may not be.
Hard to say because Red Bulls boss Hans Backe seems more optimistic than his striker. Henry has returned to practice and is clear to play.
So Henry, out since April 28 with a hamstring injury, should be available for tonight’s game off Harrison station on the Newark Red Line. Or is he?
“I’ll see tomorrow if I can play,” Henry said after practice Tuesday. “We’ll see tomorrow if I can play, if I can be available for the game.”
The story in Big Apple Soccer noted that Monday’s training was wiped out by heavy rains, so that was a setback. Otherwise, Henry’s doubt’s about his own ability to return to the field sound like good, old-fashioned pessimism.
“You’re always scared when you come back and you push for the first time and you’re sprinting,” he said.
