Reports: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set to start for England

England's coach Hodgson talks with Oxlade-Chamberlain during training session for Euro 2012, at Suche Stawy stadium in Krakow

Three weeks ago, he was a long shot to make Roy Hodgson’s England roster.

A week go, he was making his first start in an England shirt.

Today, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could find himself in the lineup as England – as unfancied and unburdened by expectations as any England side in a major competition since perhaps Bobby Moore’s day, begins its Euro 2012 campaign.

Oxlade-Chamberlain (pictured along with manager Roy Hodgson), Arsenal’s 18-year-old winger, will apparently be in the lineup as England meets France in the Channel Challenge against France, which begins at noon ET on ESPN.

My best guess, by the way: I smell 1-1. I smell it a lot.

On the other hand, France made short work of England in one particularly pertinent, recent friendly. So we’ll see.

Either way, Richard Farley has more about all things Euro 2012 Monday here. Hurry up and read! Kickoff approaches.
