Sean Johnson is off to England. The Chicago Fire goalkeeper will train with Stoke City from Dec. 5-9 (so, today) and Everton from Dec. 10 - 23.
With the Toffees, he’ll work with United States No. 1 Tim Howard. Johnson also trained with Everton at the end of the 2011 season. In his time with Stoke, Johnson will get Geoff Cameron to teach him out to play four different positions.
It was a good year for the goalkeeper, who recovered from a massive gaffe in Olympic qualifying to post good numbers for the Eastern Conference squad.
According to the Fire: “Johnson appeared in a career-high 31 regular season games for the Men in Red in 2012, accumulating a 16-10-5 record, including five shutouts. Johnson’s 1.24 goals against average was the lowest in his three years as a professional.”
