Sky Italia’s Tancredi Palmeri has been spewing transfer rumors left and right on Twitter tonight, but he’s not wrong very often.
Palmeri is reporting that Internazionale’s Dejan Stankovic will join MLS, with either Seattle Sounders or Toronto FC as possible destinations.
The 34-year-old midfielder has made over 300 appearances for Inter in all competitions since joining in 2003. He is also a former captain of the Serbian national team.
Serbian tabloid Kurir wrote at the end of May about Stankovic leaving Milan. It makes sense for him to leave.
With Inter coming off a horrible season by their standards, new coach Walter Mazzarri is wishing to retool, and at 34 years old he has been deemed surplus. He only made three Serie A appearances this past season.
In the 2009/2010 season, when Inter won the European treble, Stankovic made 49 appearances across all competitions, scoring 6 goals.
