Sporting KC dealing with injuries at a bad time

Los Angeles Galaxy v Sporting Kansas City

In a year when so many teams have dealt with serious injury issues, Sporting Kansas City has been relatively fortunate. Injuries have removed a starter here or there, but the 2012 campaign has been mostly free from major roster hits.

But the Livestrong Sporting Park bunch is dealing with a couple of injuries and absences now at the worst time.

The most troublesome is Aurelien Collin (pictured), since center back depth always seemed to be the soft spot for Peter Vermes’ side. (Collins is hurt and suspended, so perhaps his injury is irrelevant for Wednesday’s important clash, but it sure bears watching going forward.)

Less impacting are ongoing injury issues for Bobby Convey and Jacob Peterson, although taken in tandem, they do reduce Vermes’ attack options.

In all honesty, the player SKC gets back is more important than either of those guys. Roger Espinoza, fresh off his highly capable and passionate Olympic, performances for Honduras, should be brimming with confidence.

C.J. Sapong and Chance Myers (underrated as a force at right back this year) are apparently healthy enough to play as well.
