VIDEO: Arsene Wenger pleased after big season-ending win
The Gunners secured yet another top-four finish to add to manager Arsene Wenger’s resume and will be returning to the Champions League next season. That was wrapped up a few weeks ago, but today’s season-ending 4-1 win over West Brom showed how dangerous Arsenal can be and gave supporters a view of what may be in store for next season.
“It was important to show good quality today,” Wenger said after the match. He had previously said the club “owed it to the fans” to put on a good showing, and that they did as Theo Walcott started in the striker position and netted a hat trick.
Two men who had difficult seasons due to injuries, Walcott and Jack Wilshere, both got on the scoresheet in their returns to the starting lineup, and that made their manager very happy. “They had been punished a lot for injuries, but they came slowly back to their best and today they’ve shown that,” Wenger said.
