There are some injury concerns for Spurs as Roberto Soldado, Jan Vertonghen, and Kyle Walker all miss out, while Naleb Bentaleb was only able to return late Thursday from international duty which means he is not in the squad.

Meanwhile, Gus Poyet faces his old club, where he used to ply his trade as a player and also spent time as an assistant manager. He has new signings Sebastian Coates and Ricky Alvarez at his disposal, and has chosen to start the latter, while Coates will have to work to make the matchday squad.
There are no injury woes for the Black Cats, and they have Conor Wickham starting up front with the support of the new Argentine behind him.
