Weekly MLS Panic Quotient

Keep calm

The champs? Making a debut appearance on ProSoccerTalk’s weekly “MLS Panic Quotient?” (®) Say it ain’t so! It’s our weekly temperature check on panic in the streets of MLS.

VANCOUVER WHITECAPS: One goal in the last three games for this blue ribbon assembly of attackers? Flags of concern are being prepped for unfurl along some channels. ProSoccerTalk’s Panic Quotient sub-committee sees things differently, asserting that smothering defense mitigates any concern for the time being. So long as the clean sheets keep coming, there’s time to sort out the offensive balance.

Panic quotient: School principal calls; there was a “gum incident” involving child’s hair

CHIVAS USA: No one expected much from the Goats this year. Honestly, have we ever expected much from the one team in MLS that refuses to settle on an identity? But we expected a goal here and there. Robin Fraser’s side has played in four matches, including three at home, with just one, lone goal to show. Not. Good. At. All.

Panic quotient: Favorite restaurant Tweets out advisory of E coli scare

LOS ANGELES GALAXY: Last month’s Champions League crash landing? We passed it off as a warning sign. The clunker two weeks ago against Real Salt Lake? Well, RSL is a quality team. But getting pushed around at home by New England (no disrespect to the Revs, but the last playoff appearance is fading into “distant memory” territory.) For Bruce Arena and his reeling side, as we say around here: one might be a mistake, two is starting to look like a trend, but three is definitely a problem. (Fix that defense, guys!)

Panic quotient: You just fired off salty email to colleague about SOB boss; “Wait a minute … was that a ‘reply all?’ ”
