He next plays eighth-seeded American Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. That match is at Arthur Ashe Stadium after the 7 p.m. women’s quarterfinal between Americans Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro.
If he beats Shelton, Alcaraz gets another American in the semifinals — No. 11 Frances Tiafoe or Alex Michelsen.
