Bengals placed CB Trae Waynes (pectoral) on injured reserve.
Cincinnati added CB Torry McTyer to the active roster to take Waynes’ place. The move was expected after Waynes, a big offseason free agent signing, underwent surgery to repair a torn pec. He’s expected to miss much of the 2020 season. The Bengals should have one of the weakest secondaries in the NFL, making them a prime target for opposing quarterbacks and pass catchers. The Chargers get the first crack at Cincy’s depleted secondary.

Bengals re-signed CB Torry McTyer to a one-year contract.
McTyer was a restricted free agent who was not tendered a contract, so he is obviously re-signing for less than the “low” amount of $2.144 million. The former Dolphin was active just five times in 2019.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase said second-year CB Torry McTyer is “in the lead” to start opposite Xavien Howard.
McTyer has been one of the early standouts in training camp. The Dolphins have an open competion at the left corner spot, so McTyer will need to carry his play into preseason games to hold on to the role. We like Cordrea Tankersley to open the year opposite Howard.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase said second-year CB Torry McTyer has “had a good start” to training camp.
McTyer got some reps with the first-team defense. The 2017 UDFA appeared in seven games with Miami last year and should be a lock for a roster spot. With Bobby McCain likely remaining in the slot, Cordrea Tankersley and Tony Lippett are the favorites to start opposite Xavien Howard.
