DL Tyrone Crawford is retiring after nine years in the NFL, all spent with the Cowboys.
Coach Mike McCarthy made the announcement at a Thursday press conference. No longer a starter in 2020, Crawford endured surgery to both hips in 2019, a season where he was limited to four appearances. Crawford is still only 31 years old. Although never a Pro Bowler, Crawford was an excellent rotational lineman, finishing his career with 25 sacks.

Cowboys placed DL Tyrone Crawford on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
It is unknown if Crawford tested positive or simply was in close contact with someone who did. The Cowboys are on a bye this week, so Crawford could be back in time for the Week 11 matchup against the Vikings. He has played 281 of a possible 632 snaps this season.

Cowboys activated DL Tyrone Crawford (hip) from the active/PUP list.
Not only was Crawford removed from PUP following double hip surgeries that limited him to four games last year, he managed to practice for the first time since going under the knife. It’s a terrific sign the 30-year-old will be ready for Week 1, though his role as a starter remains unclear. He’s due $9.1 million this year.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said there’s no timetable for when NT Dontari Poe (quad, active/PUP) will be cleared to practice.
The Cowboys also plan to ease Tyrone Crawford (hip, active/PUP) back from season-ending surgery. Poe signed a two-year, $9 million contract in March after a rebound 2019 with the Panthers. The Cowboys are counting on him for heavy snaps.

Cowboys placed DL Tyrone Crawford (hip) on the active/PUP list.
Crawford had surgery on both of his hips this offseason and still needs time to get back to full health. With training camp practices not set to begin until mid-August, injured players have a few extra weeks to catch up to their non-injured teammates. Dontari Poe also joins Crawford on the active/PUP list.

Cowboys DL Tyrone Crawford is “feeling great” following operations on both of his hips.
“Obviously, double hip surgery is nothing to play around with,” Crawford said. “But I’m feeling awesome, ready to go.” Now on the wrong side of 30, Crawford has dealt with hip problems for several years. They limited him to four games in 2019. The Cowboys’ official team website expects Crawford to remain in the mix for a starting job, but his 2020 has a wide range of potential outcomes.

Cowboys DL Tyrone Crawford (hips, I.R.) recently underwent a second surgery on his hips to repair torn labrums.
Crawford has been on I.R. for two months and has been battling hip issues for the past couple years. It’s unclear if he’ll ever shake the problem, but Crawford is aiming to be ready for the start of the offseason program. The 30-year-old is an offseason cut candidate with one year left on his contract.

Cowboys placed DL Tyrone Crawford on injured reserve with a hip injury.
Battling through the issue for nearly a year, the 29-year-old could never get right. He will undergo surgery. Crawford had been limited to 90 snaps through the Cowboys’ first six games. Crawford is signed through next season, but his $8 million base salary contains no guarantees. It’s possible Crawford has played his final snap as a Cowboy.

Cowboys DL Tryone Crawford (questionable, hips) is expected to play in Week 5 against the Packers.
Crawford missed the last two games with bursitis in both hips. He’ll try to play through it Sunday, but surgery looms if he has another setback. Even on limited snaps, Crawford’s return is an upgrade to the defensive line.
