Holiday had already lost his spot in the starting lineup, being replaced by rookie Jared Allen.

GM Rod Graves has already acknowledged that the veterans would likely be brought back. Holliday would play a reserve role behind Calais Campbell and Darnell Dockett. Although Haggans was a 16-game starter a year ago, he’s in line for a backup job with Sam Acho and O’Brien Schofield taking over on the outside.

The Chiefs looks like they’ll get back two defensive starters this week.

Holliday will serve as cheap depth and a plus in the leadership department for the Cards. He projects as a reserve rusher on passing downs behind starting ends Calais Campbell and Darnell Dockett. Holliday, now 36, had no sacks in 16 games last season.
