Saints claimed WR Trey Palmer off waivers from the Buccaneers.
Palmer isn’t an immediate threat for a big role in New Orleans, but given how banged up Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave have been in recent years, it’s not impossible that he eventually becomes fantasy-interesting. For the time being, Palmer likely won’t make the three-wide behind those two and Devaughn Vele. The Saints also claimed OL Xavier Truss off waivers from the Broncos.
  • FA Defensive Tackle #62
    Broncos waived DT Michael Dwumfour.
He was signed only recently and looked fairly good against the Saints in Denver’s final preseason tune-up, notching a 79.7 PFF pass rush grade against ... well, backup linemen. Joining Dwumfour on the early cut list are DB Micah Abraham, LB Joaquin Davis, LB Andrew Farmer, DB Joshua Pickett, G Xavier Truss, and G Clay Webb.
  • DEN Tackle #73
    Broncos signed OL Xavier Truss.
A towering presence with positional versatility, Truss (6’7/309) logged 42 career starts across four different spots on Georgia’s offensive line, including a full-time shift to RT in 2024. Originally a guard, Truss possesses a dense frame (10.5-inch hands, 33-inch arms) and tested with a 7.02 RAS, though agility metrics (5.01 shuttle, 7.82 3-cone) expose some stiffness in space. A member of two national title teams, he brings championship-level pedigree and experience in both zone and gap concepts under Mike Bobo. Despite functional athleticism and solid lateral quickness, Truss’ tape shows lapses in technique and core strength. His 2023 PFF grades (63.5 OFF, 73.8 PBLK) reflect a player who flashes pop in his punch but struggles to stay centered on drive blocks. He’s at his best inside, where his limited bend is less exposed. Truss has swing potential, offering backup value for teams craving size and multi-position depth.
  • NO Offensive Lineman #74
Chris Hummer of 247Sports believes that Georgia redshirt freshman T Xavier Truss will replace Andrew Thomas at left tackle in 2020.
Truss is a 6-foot-7, 330-pound tackle who commited to Georgia back in January of 2018 over offers from schools like Clemson Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. Asking a freshman -- redshirt or not -- to play left tackle in the SEC is asking a lot, but he clearly has the size and strength to play right away. There will be competition, but Truss seems to be the favorite to replace the fourth-overall selection.

  • NO Offensive Lineman #74
Rivals analyst Adam Friedman predicts that uncommitted four-star 2019 T Xavier Truss will pledge to Penn State.
Truss (6'7/325) is aiming to sign with his program-to-be in December. We’re looking at a potential commitment in November. In addition to the Nittany Lions, the big tackle out of Warwick, Rhode Island, is considering Clemson, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State. He took visits to the Wolverines and Buckeyes in April. Rivals ranks Truss as the No. 139 overall prospect in the 2019 class.
  • NO Offensive Lineman #74
Georgia received a verbal commitment from four-star 2019 T Xavier Truss.
This might be considered a bit of an upset, as several recruiting analysts believed that Truss would end up at Penn State. He was also considering Clemson, Auburn, Michigan and Ohio State, among others. The 6-foot-7, 325-pound tackle is ranked the 15th best player at the position by 247 Sports composite rankings, and the top player in the state of Rhode Island. With that size and reported strength, he could be a candidate to play relatively early for the Bulldogs.
