Terms were not released, but Rolle is the first rookie besides Alex Smith to sign for six years. Rolle is expected to be a week one starter and a key part of Arizona’s underrated secondary. Six first-round picks remain unsigned.

The deal, which will likely have to be redone before the final season, calls for $13.6 million in signing bonuses and $25-26 million through the first five seasons. Rolle is expected to make his training camp debut today.

Rolle’s absence has generally been ignored as Robert Tate practices with the first-team. ''I just know the type of guy Antrel is,’' Green said. ''He has worked hard. He is working hard. So whenever he gets it done, he’ll be ready to go.’'

It didn’t take long for Rolle to take over a starting job in Arizona. Robert Tate will move to nickel back.

Rolle could change the face of the Arizona defense. He was widely considered the best cornerback in last year’s draft class but had a rookie season marred by injury.

Thomas was slated to start opposite Corey Webster on the outside and then kick inside against three-wide sets. That plan is scrapped now that the Giants will have to turn to Prince Amukamara as a starting corner. Rolle covered slot receivers for the majority of last season, but still racked up a career-high 96 tackles. The Giants also won the Super Bowl.

Rolle suffered a knee laceration with just under seven minutes left in the game on what looked to be a harmless play. He was chasing Greg Olsen in the back left corner of the end zone and hit his knee out of bounds on a sideline camera. Stevie Brown replaced Rolle and immediately intercepted Cam Newton. Rolle was carted to the locker room for X-rays.

Head coach Tom Coughlin confirmed the news to ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio. This was the expected decision all along, though. Rolle suffered a lacerated knee in Week 3 against the Panthers on Thursday Night Football.

Rolle suffered the injury when he slammed into a camera man on the sidelines in Carolina. “It’s a battle,” Rolle said. “It’s a constant battle each and every day ... With this knee injury, it’s going to take some time.” Rolle expects to play in Week 6, but the Giants have depth concerns with Kenny Phillips (knee) out and CBs Corey Webster, Michael Coe and Jayron Hosley all battling hamstring injuries.

Rolle did not need stitches, either. He may need follow-up tests on Friday, though coach Tom Coughlin downplayed the injury, calling it a contusion and a laceration. It appears that Rolle is day-to-day heading into Week 4.
