Odom

He’ll start opposite Carlos Hall and puts Juqua Thomas on the bench. The last rookie to start at defensive end for the Titans was Jevon Kearse.

Odom was competing with Travis LaBoy to start in Tennessee. This could hurt an already-weak defensive end group.

That doesn’t bode well. It’s not an ACL injury, but the thin Tennessee line can ill afford to lose another member. They have other minor injuries and lost tackle Rien Long for the season.

Head coach Jeff Fisher says Odom will be back before Tennessee’s bye week on October 22. The Titans bolstered their interior line play this week in signing Robaire Smith, but Odom is key to their outside pass rush.

The Titans are awfully thin on their D-line right now.

We could be looking at the next great Titans defensive lineman. He should be owned in all deep IDP leagues.

Odom has been out of the league since Week 4 of the 2010 due to wrist, Achilles and off-field issues. But back in 2009, he did pile up eight sacks in the first six games of the season. The Falcons and Titans are monitoring his progress, according to NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora.

Because they smelled marijuana, police searched his car and found a gun and two blunts. Currently a free agent, the 30-year-old has been out of football since the Bengals released him following the lockout. Odom was shot in the leg back in August.

Hall has been touted as an IDP sleeper, but not if he’s on the bench. We’ll see if this pattern extends to next week.

Out of the league since early in the 2010 season, Odom just began lifting weights several weeks ago in large part due to complications from wrist surgery. “He will be ready to go in July,” Odom’s agent said. “He’s starting to get into the full mode now.” Now 30, Odom hasn’t recorded a sack in over two and a half years.
