Mikefarrellsports.com’s Mike Farrell has South Carolina sophomore TE Austin Stogner as the top transfer tight end.
This year’s group of tight end transfers wasn’t as deep as some other positions but there were some really good players that found new homes. Stogner (6'6"/255) being at the top of the list shouldn’t be a surprise. He was four-star recruit in the 2019 class and joins his Oklahoma teammate Spencer Rattler in Columbia. He also joins TE Jaheim Bell where they will form one of the best duos in the nation.

  • FA Tight End #88
Former Oklahoma sophomore TE Austin Stogner transferred to South Carolina.
Stogner (6'6"/241) joins fellow Oklahoma transfer Spencer Rattler in transferring to the Gamecocks. Stogner wasn’t a huge contributor for the Sooners this season, but must have good enough relationship with Rattler to transfer with him. He was a much bigger part of the Sooner offense in 2020, and will hope to get back to that level in a new location.

  • FA Tight End #88
Oklahoma sophomore TE Austin Stogner entered the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Stogner (6'6/241) is the latest player to have entered the transfer portal from the Sooners offense, continuing a mass exodus of Sooners leaving the team after Lincoln Reilly left for USC. He wasn’t a main target for the Sooners this season, tallying 14 receptions for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Over his career spanning three seasons, Stogner has accumulated 47 receptions for 654 yards and eight touchdowns.

  • FA Tight End #88
Oklahoma sophomore TE Austin Stogner (leg) will play in Wednesday’s Cotton Bowl matchup against Florida.
Stogner (6'6/241) injured his leg during the Sooners’ win over Kansas back on November 7, and he hasn’t appeared in a game since. It was reported earlier in the week that the sophomore tight end was unlikely to suit up, but he’s dressed and warming up ahead of their Cotton Bowl showdown versus Florida. Stogner caught 25 passes for 410 yards and three touchdowns this season and is a vital cog in Oklahoma’s passing attack.

  • FA Tight End #88
Oklahoma sophomore TE Austin Stogner (leg) is not expected to play in Wednesday’s Cotton Bowl matchup with Florida.
Stogner (6'6/241) injured his leg during the Sooners’ win over Kansas back on November 7, and he hasn’t appeared in a game since. With it being likely that the sophomore tight end won’t be available for Wednesday’s season finale, Oklahoma will need to once again account for the absence of a player who caught 25 passes for 410 yards and three touchdowns this season.

  • FA Tight End #88
Oklahoma sophomore TE Austin Stogner is not expected to play in Saturday’s Big 12 Championship Game vs. Iowa State due to a leg injury.
Stogner (6'6/241), who has caught 25 passes for 410 yards and three touchdowns, has been out since he injured his leg during the Sooners’ win over Kansas back on November 7. Brayden Willis and Jeremiah Hall will continue to share the responsibilities at the tight end position in Stogner’s absence.

  • FA Tight End #88
Oklahoma sophomore TE Austin Stogner (leg) is likely out against Baylor this Saturday.
Stogner (6'6/241) had been enjoying a breakout season, catching 25 passes for 410 yards and three touchdowns through seven games until he suffered a leg injury against Kansas on November 7. HC Lincoln Riley is notoriously tight-lipped about injuries, but quarterback Spencer Rattler indicated Stogner is out in a recent interview with SI.com. Brayden Willis and Jeremiah Hall will continue to handle tight end duties in his absence.

  • FA Tight End #88
Oklahoma sophomore TE Austin Stogner caught three passes for 75 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 62-9 victory over Kansas.
Stogner (6'6/241) continued his breakout season, upping his 2020 receiving line to 25-410-3 after he caught only seven balls as a freshman. A big target that can move, Stogner provides a nice seam weapon and outlet receiver for youngster Spencer Rattler. The former four-star prep recruit was a top Lincoln Riley target during the period Riley took over the program from Bob Stoops, and Riley ended up landing his man. Stogner appears set for a big career in Norman.

  • SF Tight End #9
Oklahoma junior TE Brayden Willis (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Saturday’s game at TCU.
Willis (6'3/236) has not appeared in a game since he was injured during the Sooners’ loss to Kansas State in September, and as of Thursday he was considered to be “week-to-week.” Oklahoma will continue to rely on Austin Stogner at tight end, and that was the case when Willis was healthy as well.

  • FA Tight End #88
Oklahoma freshman TE Austin Stogner caught two passes for eight yards and two touchdowns in Oklahoma’s 34-31 comeback win over Baylor.
Talk about making the most of your opportunities. Stogner (6'6/241) had only caught three passes all year, none of them being touchdowns. Despite being a true freshman, Stogner stepped up in Oklahoma’s biggest game of the year and delivered two red zone touchdowns. While it’s tough to draw conclusions on such a small sample, Stogner looked athletic and flexible as he maneuvered in the end zone to find space.
