Cowboys signed Marshall RB Brenden Knox.
Knox (5’11/215) was a two-star recruit and two-year starter for Marshall as a pure between-the-tackles runner. He only caught 27 passes across 29 games and doesn’t have the athleticism (sixth percentile Adjusted SPARQ) to threaten on passing downs. As a starter in his sophomore and junior campaigns, Knox averaged 103 rushing yards per game on a forgettable 5.0 yards per carry. If you need three yards, Knox will get you three yards by finishing forward on tackles, but his lack of burst (4.66 forty) caps his ceiling. Perhaps Knox’s pass-blocking skills transition well to special teams.
