Valera also had three RBI yesterday in the 22-run game. He’s been filling in at third base with both Cavan Biggio and Santiago Espinal absent. He’s not really known for his bat, but with the Blue Jays surging, he’s upped his OPS from .511 to .711 this month.

Breyvic Valera went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday’s win over the A’s.
Valera notched his two-run home run against Paul Blackburn with one out in the fourth inning. The homer was his first of the season and just the second of his big league career. Nice real-life moment for the 29-year-old infielder, but there is no fantasy spark with this one.

  • NYM Shortstop #19
Bo Bichette is absent from the Blue Jays’ lineup on Wednesday due to shin contusions.
Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said that he doesn’t expect Bichette to require a trip to the injured list, but he’s feeling sore after playing in both games of Tuesday’s doubleheader. He should be considered day-to-day for now. It remains to be seen if he’ll be back for Thursday’s series finale against the Angels. Marcus Semien will slide over to shortstop, with Breyvic Valera handling second base on Wednesday night.
