Joshua Cribbs started Sunday’s game instead of Brian Robiskie.
Coach Pat Shurmur talked last week about the need to “get the playmakers on the field.” So Robiskie, who is shaping up to be a bust, hits the pine. Meanwhile, Cribbs recorded three catches for 41 yards on just three targets. There’s no upside in here until Greg Little begins starting opposite Mohamed Massaquoi.

Browns coach Pat Shurmur had to clarify Monday that Brian Robiskie is “a real receiver” and “not a blocking receiver.”
Shurmur was apparently asked in his day-after press conference whether Robiskie is an actual part of the passing offense. He hasn’t caught a pass through two games. “I’m not down on Brian Robiskie,” said Shurmur. “We’ll see how the numbers work out.” Robiskie has never been able to get open, and was left out of the starting lineup in favor of special teamer Josh Cribbs in Week 2.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Browns coach Pat Shurmur has promoted Greg Little into the starting lineup at X receiver, and he’ll move to the slot in three-wide sets.
He’ll be a true every-down receiver. Brian Robiskie was the old nominal starter at X, across from Mohamed Massaquoi, before the Browns’ bye. After spending the last week trying to kick-start their passing game, the Browns have properly determined that getting Little heavily involved is an answer. Little instantly becomes the receiver to own in Cleveland and an upside play in PPR formats. He racked up six catches on eight targets in Week 4 and has flashed elite playmaking skills after the catch.
  • FA Wide Receiver
In addition to the Jaguars, the Redskins also put in a waiver claim on Brian Robiskie.
The Falcons, employing Robiskie’s father as WRs coach, did not make a waiver claim. The Redskins go seven deep at wide receiver, so Brandon Banks’ roster spot may have been in peril if Robiskie was awarded to Washington.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Jaguars placed WR Brian Robiskie (hamstring) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Robiskie is not an impact player, so it’s not surprising that he made zero impact during a four-week stay on the Jaguars’ 53-man roster. The former No. 36 overall pick in the draft is going to end up having a short NFL career.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Jaguars claimed WR Brian Robiskie off waivers from the Browns.
The Jaguars didn’t need another receiver who lacks separation skills, but perhaps GM Gene Smith had a high grade on Robiskie coming out of Ohio State in 2009. He won’t be a fantasy factor in Jacksonville’s putrid passing game.
  • FA Wide Receiver
    Browns waived WR Brian Robiskie.
The coaching staff spent the offseason talking up the No. 36 pick in the 2009 draft as an ideal fit for the West Coast offense, but he’s yet to show even a modicum of play-making ability. Robiskie can help a team as a fundamentally sound run-blocking role player, but that was a luxury on a Browns offense lacking big-play ability. The Falcons, employing Robiskie’s father as WRs coach, are a logical candidate to show interest.
  • FA Wide Receiver
The Bengals worked out free agent WR Brian Robiskie Monday.
It’s Robiskie’s first workout since he was cut loose by the Jags last month. He’d be extremely doubtful to get on the field for Cincinnati’s young but crowded receiver corps.
  • FA Wide Receiver
    Lions signed WR Brian Robiskie.
Robiskie will take Nate Burleson’s roster spot, but not his place in the offense. Cast off by both the Jaguars and Browns this year, the former second-round pick should be limited to special teams in the Motor City.
  • FA Wide Receiver
    Jaguars released WR Brian Robiskie.
Robiskie was claimed off waivers from the Browns in November of 2011. The former second-round pick out of Ohio State has yet to pan out.
