    Baumann signed a minor league contract with the O’s at the beginning of March and went on to surrender three earned runs in three Grapefruit League appearances covering just 1 1/3 innings. Yorkislandy Alvarez, JC Escarra, Garrett Farmer, Mason Janvrin, Zach Jarrett, Willy Yahn, Andrew Martinez, and Lamar Sparks have also been cut loose by Baltimore ahead of Opening Day.

The 34-year-old southpaw reliever holds a pedestrian 5.58 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 35/18 K/BB ratio across 30 2/3 innings (38 appearances) in the big leagues since 2016. He hasn’t pitched professionally since making 17 appearances for the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League back in 2019. He’ll bolster the Orioles’ organizational relief depth this season.
