The jury deliberated for only three hours before awarding the former Eagles standout special teamer $43.5 in damages after it was determined that gross negligence played a role in his career-ending knee injury in 2017. Maragos would spend the following year on the Physically Unable to Perform list before announcing his retirement from football in 2019 at the age of 32. The lawsuit alleged malpractice involving the corrective surgery to fix a torn PCL, adding that his career was cut short due to a meniscus issue that was not addressed.

A 2010 UDFA, Maragos carved out a career as a core special teamer. He was a member of Super Bowl-winning squads for the Seahawks and Eagles. Maragos is just 32.

A core special teamer for the Eagles, Maragos spent all of last year on the PUP list after injuring his knee in 2017. Until he’s given a clean bill of health, the 32-year-old is unlikely to resurface.

Maragos had surgery to repair a torn PCL in October. He’s been setback-free in his rehab and looks on track for the start of camp. A core special teamer, Maragos is set to make $1.75 million in 2018.

An undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin last year, Maragos tallied two tackles in three games for the 49ers. He’ll contribute on special teams in Seattle.

Maragos, 26, has racked up 15 special teams tackles over the past two seasons. He’s not a defensive contributor, but Seattle values Maragos’ tackling ability on kick and punt cover enough to pay him well above the minimum salary.

Smith is a converted corner that was a third-round pick in 2008. We’d expect him to hold on to his gig.

Maragos is a core special teamer. He’s played one snap on defense this season.

The deal includes $1 million guaranteed. Maragos won’t help the Eagles fill the hole next to newly acquired Malcolm Jenkins at safety, but he is one of the game’s top special teamers. The Redskins were also interested in Maragos.

The undrafted rookie was inactive in his only game on the 53-man roster. He’ll be replaced by cornerback Tramaine Brock.
