John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports undrafted rookie running back Chris Taylor is likely to make the Texans.
The Indiana product has become a favorite of head coach Gary Kubiak and reportedly fits the zone-blocking scheme well. Taylor and sixth-round rookie Wali Lundy are deep sleepers in dynasty leagues.
  • FA Running Back #36
Saints signed RB Chris Taylor, WR Andy Tanner, OT Phil Trautwein, OT Fenuki Tupou, DB Kamaal McIlwain, and NT Mitch King to reserve/futures contracts.
Undrafted out of Indiana all the way back in 2006, Taylor last suited up for the Texans in the 2008 season. He’s rushed for 160 yards on 42 carries (3.8 YPC) in seven career games. Taylor won’t earn a spot in the Saints’ crowded backfield next season.
  • FA Running Back #36
    Saints waived RB Chris Taylor.
Taylor has bounced around the NFL for the past six years and is now entering his age-29 season. It might be time for him to consider another profession.
  • FA Running Back #36
    Patriots re-signed RB Chris Taylor.
Taylor, 26, was with the Pats in 2009 training camp, only to land on injured reserve with a shoulder problem in September. He can play both fullback and tailback, but will be a huge long shot to make the team regardless.
  • FA Running Back #36
Chris Taylor has been seeing some work at fullback during OTAs.
It’s probably not a full-time consideration, but a way for Taylor to increase his odds of landing a roster spot. He’s currently battling Samkon Gado, undrafted rookie Darius Walker, Ron Dayne, and Wali Lundy behind Ahman Green.
  • FA Running Back #36
Chris Taylor underwent surgery for a torn meniscus Sunday and is likely to miss the season.
Taylor was already on the roster bubble. Considering Ahman Green’s age and recent injury history, the Texans should carry four tailbacks on their roster this season. That means Samkon Gado and Wali Lundy will both likely make the team.
  • FA Running Back #36
Texans placed RB Chris Taylor (knee surgery) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Taylor had been trying to make the team as a fullback/tailback hybrid before needing his knee scoped Sunday. He’ll be back next year to compete.
  • FA Running Back #36
Patriots placed RB Chris Taylor (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Taylor is injuring himself out of the league. Once a fantasy sleeper when the Texans had no running backs, the 25-year-old’s future is dim.
  • FA Running Back #36
Patriots signed RB Chris Taylor, formerly of the Texans.
Taylor is a fringe player who couldn’t stay healthy in Houston. The Pats could give him a look at fullback -- where Taylor practiced briefly with the Texans -- but he almost certainly isn’t going to make the final 53.
  • HOU Running Back
Texans RB Chris Brown is expected to get the majority of the carries in this week’s preseason game against the Saints.
Brown didn’t play in the preseason opener, so the team will want to see how far behind he is while Ahman Green is out with a groin injury. The obvious caveat is that Brown must make it through this week’s practices without getting injured.
