Tyus Battle announced on Monday that he will be playing his college ball at Michigan.

“Excited to say that I am going to be a Wolverine!” Battle wrote on twitter.

Battle is ranked as the No. 14 player in the Class of 2016, according to Rivals. He became Michigan’s third commitment in the class, having gone on his official visit to Ann Arbor over the weekend.

A 6-foot-5 wing, Battle has the reputation of being a big time shooter and scorer, but he’s more than just a catch-and-shoot threat. He can put the ball on the floor and create off the bounce, and part of the reason that he committed to Michigan is that head coach John Beilein has had tremendous success with wings that have had similar tools, names like Caris LeVert, Nik Stauskas and Tim Hardaway Jr.

“An athletic wing with a high ceiling and high floor, Battle has played elite competition for a few years and continued to improve over time,” said recruiting analyst Scott Phillips. “He’s a legitimate five-star prospect and a player who could have a big impact early if he continues to get better by end of senior season.”

Battle is a native of Gladstone, New Jersey, that plays his high school ball for Gil St. Bernard’s.
