With Dylan Ennis, Tyler Dorsey and Kendall Small joining the Oregon program, minutes for other perimeter options could be at a premium in 2015-16. One player those additions were bound to impact was rising sophomore Ahmaad Rorie, who played just under 19 minutes per game as a freshman.

Friday afternoon it was reported by Matt Prehm of that the Washington native has been granted a release from his scholarship and will transfer. Oregon takes a hit from a depth standpoint, but given the additions (even with their losing out in the Jamal Murray sweepstakes) this is a loss Dana Altman and his staff can account for.

In addition to Ennis, Dorsey and Small, the Ducks return sophomore Casey Benson and senior Elgin Cook from last season’s NCAA tournament team. Dwayne Benjamin and Dylan Brooks will also factor into the rotation on the wing for a team expected to contend in the Pac-12 this upcoming season.

Per a report from Left Coast Recruiting, Montana is the new home for Rorie, who averaged 4.1 points per game last season. The Grizzlies have four scholarship upperclassmen on the perimeter heading into 2015-16, including point guard Mario Dunn, so having Rorie for three seasons beginning with 2016-17 would benefit head coach Travis DeCuire moving forward if he were to land the guard.

Rorie will have to sit out the 2015-16 season at Montana.
