Iowa RB Jewel Hampton arrested

After a 2009 offseason that featured several players finding themselves on the wrong side of the law, this offseason has been positively quiet for Kirk Ferentz and his Iowa Hawkeyes.

Until now.

Running back Jewel Hampton was arrested was arrested very early Saturday morning on two misdemeanor charges. According to the Iowa City Police Department’s website, Hampton was booked at 1:46 a.m. CT for public intoxication and presence on premise (licensed liquor establishment) after hours.

No details of what led to the arrest are available at this time.

Hampton was expected to take over for Shonn Greene as the Hawkeyes’ top back in 2009, but what was believed to be a torn ACL suffered last July turned into a season-ending injury in September.
