Ishaq Williams reportedly formally readmitted to Notre Dame

Over the weekend it was KeiVarae Russell announcing his return to Notre Dame. Now, another member of the so-called “Frozen Five” is apparently doing the same.

In a tweet posted to the Irish Illustrated‘s Twitter account, Pete Sampson writes that “Ishaq Williams has been formally re-admitted to Notre Dame by the Committee on Readmission.” As was the case with Russell, the school has yet to address Williams’ status with either the university or the football team moving forward.

It comes as little surprise that both Russell and Williams were readmitted as Brian Kelly stated last October he expected both players to play for the Irish in 2015.

Williams suspended for the entire 2014 season because of the findings rendered in an academic fraud investigation. Five players were initially suspended, with only safety Eilar Hardy playing at all in 2014. Bowling Green announced late last month that Hardy had transferred into its football program.

The defensive lineman had played in 24 games the two seasons prior to his suspension and was expected to be a starter in 2014.
