LSU offers preview of stadium expansion

LSU is currently renovating Tiger Stadium with a new upper deck in the south end zone that will add luxury suites, close off the south end of the stadium and jump the stadium’s seating capacity over 100,000. That’s right. One of the toughest places for visiting teams to play is about to get bigger and louder.

On Monday afternoon LSU released a picture of what the final renovations should look like to give fans a digital preview of what is to come.

Tiger Stadium was expanded in 2000 with an expansion on the east side of the stadium to add over 11,000 additional seats. That brought the official seating capacity of Tiger Stadium up to 91,600. In 2004 the west side of the stadium was renovated to add luxury boxes. More club seats were added just a few years ago, but this expansion will make Tiger Stadium the third stadium in the SEC with a capacity over 100,000, joining Tennessee and Alabama. Texas A&M is underway on renovations to Kyle Field that are expected to increase the seating capacity over 100,00 as well.
