Marijuana possession charge dropped for Kentucky DE

After receiving a citation for possession of a small amount of marijuana, Kentucky defensive end is escaping any further legal trouble. Jason Hatcher‘s marijuana possession charge was dismissed by a county court after completing a marijuana education course according to a report by The Courier-Journal.

“He’s never had any sort of criminal charge before in his life,” Scott C. Cox, Hatcher’s attorney, said to The Courier-Journal. “His case is scheduled to be expunged on August 18.”

Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops says Hatcher’s situation will be handled internally from this point on. Hatcher was suspended for one game last season by Stoops for a violation of team rules.

Hatcher had been cited for the possession along with Louisville wide receiver James Quick. The two former high school teammates were given citations by Louisville campus police. Quick was cited for possession of 39.5 grams of marijuana, significantly more than Hatcher according to the police report.

Quick apparently has some more work to do before getting in the good graces with Cardinals head coach Bobby Petrino. Petrino told The Courier-Journal Quick has disappointed the new head coach and he will be given an opportunity make up for his actions as the program will keep Quick on the roster.
