A minor injury knocked Jerald Robinson out of Michigan’s spring game over the weekend.
Now an off-field issue has left the wide receiver as a “wanted man”.
According to AnnArbor.com, a warrant was issued for Robinson’s arrest March 23 after the receiver failed to appear for an arraignment hearing. That appearance stemmed from a Feb. 4 incident in which Robinson was charged with one misdemeanor count of malicious destruction of property between $200 and $1,000.
No details were available as to what led to the initial charge. That charge was news to the football program.
“This is all new information to us, and we can’t really comment any further than that at this time,” spokesman Dave Ablauf told the website in a statement.
As the website wrote, Robinson is considered one of the prime contenders for a spot in the starting lineup in 2012. As a redshirt freshman last season, Robinson played in 11 games but didn’t record a reception.
UPDATED 11:47 a.m. ET: According to ESPN.com, the warrant that had been issued for Robinson’s arrest has been lifted after the receiver appeared in court Friday morning. The warrant was officially cancelled at 9:08 ET today, court records indicated.
