Late last month, Texas A&M living legend and NFL assistant Dat Nguyen turned down a contract extension from the Dallas Cowboys and expressed an interest in coaching college football.
Based on at least one report, he could be getting his wish in very short order.
According to the Austin American-Statesman, and citing a source within the athletic department, “chances are good” that Nguyen will return to the Aggies as a part of head coach Mike Sherman‘s revamped defensive coaching staff.
If Nguyen is brought in, he would coach linebackers for the school. Nguyen, of course, was an All-American at the position back in the mid- to late-nineties.
There is no word on when the hiring is expected to be made official.
